Dorze people live in the highlands around Lake Abaya.
In ancient times, they were feared warriors but now the Dorze have settled down to farming or weavings. They are famous for their houses which are constructed with vertical hard wood poles and woven bamboo. It can be 6 meters high. The house is divided in to a fireplace, cattle place, bedroom...
When their houses begin to decay or are attacked by termites the Dorze just dig them up and after sewing bamboo struts around the base to protect the shape, mobilize all the neighbors to carry the structures to their sites. Each house is said to last for 40 years.
Les Droze vivent dans les montagnes qui surplombent le lac Abaya. Avant, ils etaient des gierriers craints, mais desormais, ce sont de paisibles fermiers ou tisserands. Ils possedent des maisons en bambous d'une tres grande hauteur , jusqu'à 6 metres de haut. L'interieur est divisé en foyer, chambre, endroit pour les betes...
